Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) is better known under her real moniker Ari Lennox is an American artist and singer hailing born in Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be associated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP with the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May of 2019. Ari Lennox released her music to the internet in 2012, when she dropped her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. She continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014 and released her own single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes and on Sweat It Out on July 21, 2015. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's remark. Later in the season, the music was played throughout Dreamville. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. In the album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat with Cozz. She released Pho, her debut EP, on October 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was joined by EarthGang. In 2018, she appeared as a guest on two songs with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it came out on the 5th. In November, she released her singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed together with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It then came out as a standalone single in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February of 2019, a music clip was made available for the track. It has already received more than 3 million views on YouTube within the first week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
